Bridgerton Star on "Whirlwind" Lois Lane Audition for Superman: Legacy
Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton, Fair Play) on her Superman: Legacy audition & why Lois Lane represents the kind of character she wants to play.
Normally, when we're covering Superman: Legacy, it usually involves DC Studios Co-CEO & the film's writer/director James Gunn. But for this go-around, we're getting a chance to hear from someone who went through the audition process for one of the two lead roles. Though Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) was chosen for the sought-after role of Lois Lane, Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor revealed that she auditioned for the role during a profile interview with Variety in support of her film Fair Play. "It was a whirlwind, and then I realized that it was over, but it was great," Dynevor shared about how it felt making it to the short list of finalists for the role. For the actress, Lois Lane represents the type of roles that she's looking to pursue moving forward. "She [Lois Lane] saves Superman. She's the brains; she's actually the fearless one."
Superman: Legacy: Gunn Confirms March 2024 Start; No Fan of Logline
"Not sure where this logline came from. I didn't write it. It has elements of truth (obviously based on things I've said in the past). But I wouldn't describe the plot this way, & I wouldn't call Clark a cub reporter. He's a thirty-year-old full-on reporter," Gunn penned in his social media response from last month, offering an even clearer picture of Clark's age and career level at the point when we meet him while also disavowing the logline included in a number of production lists. As for when filming is expected to begin, Gunn added, "But, yeah, we shoot in March. I'm grateful every day our production team worked their asses off to keep things going through the strikes. Forces impelled us to stop many times – & if we had, we'd never make July 2025."
Set for a July 11, 2025, premiere, DC Studios' Superman: Legacy stars (so far) David Corenswet (Hollywood) as Superman/Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane. In addition, the cast includes Nicholas Hoult (The Great) as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan (Barry) as Metamorpho. Now, here's a look back at the screencap we shared prior to Gunn's confirmation that listed March 2024 as being the start of filming:
