CBS Wants You to "Dabl" With Martha Stewart This Fall
September 9th marks the beginning of Dabl, a multi-platform network that focuses on lifestyle friendly programming from CBS.
The new platform will be ad supported, and should reach 70% of the country at launch.
CBS claims that viewers will be able to Dabl with Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse, as well as other lifestyle experts.
CBS says that Dabl will be packed with "Informative, project-based, feel-good content", with an emphasis on cooking, home renovation, design, DIY projects, travel destinations, and pets. Maybe we can get some programming about Martha Stewart's pets?
"The strength of our distribution and ad sales teams, combined with our O&O station group and the depth of our library, provides us with a lot of opportunities to mine in the digital landscape. We chose Dabl as our first foray into the space because we see a huge upside in the marketplace for lifestyle programming. We are excited to partner with our CBS stations group to bring this advertiser-friendly network with some of the most beloved personalities in the genre to life."
-Steve LoCascio, Chief Operating and Financial Officer of CBS Global Distribution Group
Dabl is one of an increasingly packed arena of ad-supported programming for CBS, with ET Live and CBS Sports HQ already planned. CBS will be launching Dabl into a programming market that is already dominated by pay-TV shows on HGTV and Food Network, both owned by the Discovery Networks.
Martha Stewart is pretty pumped up about the project, calling Dabl "a fresh TV platform on which to share our extensive library. We think everyone will benefit and learn from these beautiful shows. It's a good thing."
It's a good thing… I'm sold.
Emeril Lagasse is also ready to rumble with Dabl: "I'm excited to be a part of CBS's new lifestyle network DABL. Folks are always asking for where they can watch my shows… now there is a place… DABL! See you in the Fall."
See, he was going to do the "BAM!" bit, but he couldn't. Martha worked her bit in, Emeril. Get with the program… oh, wait, that's Oprah.
Dabl launches nationwide on September 9th. Bam.
