Christian Cage Finally Speaks on AEW Dynamite
Newly signed AEW star Christian Cage finally got his chance to speak on AEW Dynamite last week. Cage debuted at the Revolution PPV but only had time to sign his contract and leave. The next week on AEW Dynamite, an interview between Tony Schiavone and Christian Cage was interrupted before it started by Kenny Omega, The Good Brothers, and Don Callis, though Cage did make his way to the ring and run off Omega, giving him a moment alone in the ring with the AEW Championship belt.
On Dynamite this week, AEW's Dasha Gonzalez interviewed Cage for the first time, asking why the former WWE and Impact star signed with AEW.
"Dasha, I'm gonna go on a little bit of a rant here, but I promise you, I will answer your question," Cage replied. "There's a term in the wrestling business for the type of wrestler that, when they get in that ring on a nightly basis, no matter the situation, no matter the opponent, they bust their ass more than anybody else on the card. They're called a workhorse. And if you've ever been inside a pro wrestling locker room, then you know. You know, my reputation. I mean, John Moxley said it himself. He said he thought he knew something about wrestling until he got in the ring with me. I make wrestling better, I make wrestlers level up."
"But I'm not a workhorse," Cage insisted. "I am the workhorse in professional wrestling, and if anybody's forgot about that the past seven years that I've been gone, the second I step foot in the ring in AEW, you're gonna remember pretty damn quick. You know, it's also got me thinking, I might have ruffled some feathers here on the way in, you know, great, the veteran with the big name is coming in to take our spot. Let me put your mind at ease. There's only one spot that interests me. And it's currently occupied by AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega."
"And speaking of Kenny, last week on Dynamite, he showed up and he scooped my time," said Cage. "I guess when you're the champ, you can just do whatever you want. I mean, that's cool. I get it. But I wasn't mad because it gave me a chance to go out there and meet Kenny for the first time face to face and let him know, Kenny, as champ, you're on borrowed time."
"Now, I get it, I need to get some wins, I need to prove myself," Cage concluded. "But Kenny. I'll see you down the road, trust me. Now, your question, why am I in AEW.? It's simple. I'm in AEW to cement my legacy. I'm in AEW to put to action three simple words. Out. Work. Everyone.
