FX Releases Trailer for Episode 2 of 'Fosse/Verdon'
If you are a theater/dance aficionado, you should REALLY be watching FX's Fosse/Verdon. The masterful take on the legendary partnership of choreographer, director, artist Bob Fosse and his ultimate muse Gwen Verdon (who FINALLY gets her due credit in this series) is simply wonderful.
Oscar winner Sam Rockwell plays Fosse, and by the first scene, we were completely sold on this casting. He's got the smooth and the cheek, backed up by presence and talent. He's joined by 4-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams as Gwen, who brings the strength and heart of a woman who's worth is never fully realized despite her constantly saving the situation. Also? HER. LEGS.
FX just released a peek at season 1 episode 2:
Lin-Manuel Miranda is executive producing alongside Rockwell and Williams, as well as Thomas Kail (who is also directing the pilot), George Stelzner, Joel Fields, Steven Levenson (who wrote the pilot and will serve as showrunner), as well as Fosse and Verdon's daughter Nicole Fosse.
Andy Blankenbuehler is set to choreograph along with Susan Misner, who will also appear as Joan McCracken. Alex Lacamoire will serve as supervising music producer.
Kelli Barrett will appear as Liza Minnelli, Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera, Norbert Leo Butz as Paddy Chayefsky, Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, and Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine.
Bob Fosse is a visionary filmmaker and one of theater's most influential choreographers and directors. Gwen Verdon is the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Fosse/Verdon will tell the story of these two brilliant, complicated individuals – the love they shared, the art they created, and the price they paid in the pursuit of greatness.
Fosse/Verdon airs on FX on Tuesdays.
