Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All Time to Be Inducted in WWE Hall of Fame
The Honky Tonk Man is the next wrestling legend to join WWE's 2019 Hall of Fame Class. WWE announced the news on their website, claiming that CBS Sports "reported" it first, but as all of the reveals of Hall of Fame members on mainstream media outlets are arranged PR EX-X-XCLUSIVES so that WWE can act like they're important enough for actual journalists to spend time investigating who they will induct into their fake Hall of Fame, we're not counting it.
In addition to his catchy theme song (He's the Honky Tonk Man), Honky Tonk Man is most famous for his 454-day Intercontinental Championship title reign, which he won in 1987 from Ricky Steamboat and held onto until losing to the Ultimate Warrior in 30 seconds to kickstart Warrior's push.
A cousin of Jerry "The King" Lawler, Honky Tonk Man rose again to infamy in the 1990s for being one of the first wrestlers of the internet era to talk a ton of @#$% about his colleagues in shoot interviews and on his website. He also once appeared in a music video by the Insane Clown Posse.
Honky Tonk Man joins D-X in this year's Hall of Fame class, with more names to be "reported" by mainstream media outlets in the coming weeks.
