Netflix Debuts Trailer for New Documentary Series 'Somebody Feed Phil'
Netflix has released the first trailer for Somebody Feed Phil. The new original documentary series from the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, Phil Rosenthal, takes viewers on a goodwill eating tour of the world (Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Saigon, Mexico City, New Orleans, and Bangkok.) Along for the ride are Phil's friends, family, and his trademark sense of humor.
The series started out being called I'll Have What Phil is Having and ran on PBS in 2015, but the series was moved in January of this year to the streaming network. The show wasn't cost efficient enough for the publicly paid-for network, though it was warmly received by viewers and critics. When the show became available, Netflix quickly swooped in and grabbed it.
Rosenthal, a native New Yorker, is known as a foodie and travel buff, which pretty much explains this series. He's a writer, actor, and director, having spent time scripting episodes of Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond, as well as appearing in the movie Spanglish and voicing a character in the Simpsons Movie.
The six-episode documentary series will debut on January 12th, 2018.
