Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 E03 "Jinaal" Preview, Overview Released

Thanks to Wil Wheaton's The Ready Room, we have an early look at next week's episode of Paramount+'s Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, "Jinaal."

Setting aside the fact that this is the show's final season, there's a lot for fans of Paramount+'s Sonequa Martin-Green (Captain Michael Burnham)-starring Star Trek: Discovery to be happy about in the short term. Along with a two-episode return (no spoilers, we promise), we also have the latest edition of Wil Wheaton's (Star Trek: The Next Generation) The Ready Room – and that's bringing us some interview time with none other than the amazing Doug Jones (Saru – but he will always be Baron Afanas from FX's What We Do in the Shadows to me). During their one-on-one, Jones discusses his character's journey over the course of the past four seasons while teasing what's still to come. In addition, the episode examines the final season's connections to Star Trek: The Next Generation – and Jones even teaches Wheaton how to walk like a Kelpian. At around the 12:30 mark in the video above, we also get a sneak preview of S05E03: "Jinaal" (directed by Andi Armaganian and written by Kyle Jarrow & Lauren Wilkinson) – here's the official episode overview: "On Trill, Burnham, Book, and Culber must pass a dangerous test to be worthy of receiving the next clue. Adira reconnects with Gray, and Saru's first day as ambassador is complicated by his engagement to T'Rina."

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Previews & Overviews

Set to hit screens in April 2024, the fifth and final season of Paramount+'s Star Trek: Discovery will find Captain Burnham (Martin-Green) and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it. Here's a look at Martin-Green, Ajala, and Blu Del Barrio (Adira Tal) taking us behind the scenes for some more clues to what we can expect:

The cast for the fifth season includes Sonequa Martin-Green (Captain Michael Burnham), Doug Jones (Saru), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), David Ajala (Cleveland "Book" Booker), Blu del Barrio (Adira) and Callum Keith Rennie (Rayner). Joining the cast for the final season are Elias Toufexis as L'ak and Eve Harlow as Malinne Ravel. Paramount+'s Star Trek: Discovery is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Michelle Paradise, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers. Kurtzman and Paradise serve as co-showrunners.
