"ThunderCats Roar!": Goodbye, Thundera! Hello… Third Earth?!? Meet Your New ThunderCats! [TEASER]
What's one of the the things we're most excited for this year? That the continuing battle between Lion-O's ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit — and Mumm-Ra will be making its way to Cartoon Network this year with Warner Bros. Animation rebooting the feline-like alien heroes for the new animated series ThunderCats Roar!. How excited? It made our The Bleeding Cool Top 30 TV Series Influencers 2020 list in a big way – but you can read up more on that here.
Less than a month after Cartoon Network confirmed that the series would see the light of day in 2020 (more on that below), viewers are getting their first official teaser that shares our heroes' backstory on the road to Third Earth – and how they'll have to protect their new home from an old threat.
Best part? You can stream the two-part first episode "Exodus" on the CN App starting right now!
"ThunderCats Roar!" season 1, episode 1 "Exodus, Pt. 1": Fleeing the destruction of their home planet Thundera, Lion-O and the ThunderCats land on the mysterious, dangerous, all-around awesome world of Third Earth! But their enemies, the Mutants of Plun-Darr have followed them and it turns out Third Earth already has a Mumm-Ra problem, can Lion-O learn the ropes of being a leader in time?
Here's a look back at last month's "20 Things in 2020: Sneak Preview" clip that confirmed a 2020 release:

Going with an animation style and new approach to the characters, show producer Victor Courtright spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what fans can expect:
"I think the world that they built lends itself really well to comedy because of how silly and crazy and outlandish those ideas are and some of those settings are. But at the same time, it wouldn't be ThunderCats if it didn't have super cool action elements because that's what people came back to. It's very much something that we want to lean on. So with the new show, we're not walking away from the action in any bit. Every step we take towards comedy, we take two more towards really cool action scenes and explosions and lasers and actions effects."
Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit — barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth's wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.
ThunderCats Roar stars Max Mittelman (Justice League Action) as Lion-O and Wilykat; Erica Lindbeck (DC Super Hero Girls) as Cheetara and Wilykit; Patrick Seitz(Justice League Action) as Tygra and Mumm-Ra; and Chris Jai Alex (Star Wars: Battlefront II) as Panthro.
