Vertigo Crime Line Hits BBC America

bbcVertigo's new crime line, currently consisting of the published Filthy Rich and Dark Entries (which is not actually a crime graphic novel, but is written by a crime novelist) has made some significant breakthroughs in mainstream advertisin, from full page ads in the New Yorker to advertorial features in Playboy.

Well, I understand that they will soon play out thirty second adverts on the cable station BBC America, best known for broadcasting BBC and Channel 4 lifestyle shows, recently including Top Gear, Gordon Ramsay, Jonathan Ross and sci-fi/fantasy such as Torchwood, Robin Hood, Doctor Who and Being Human.

Vertigo has often played to an Anglophile audience with the likes of Sandman, Hellblazer and Books Of Magic. But TV advertising for any comics line has been shied away from because of its cost and dubious demographic benefits.

But Vertigo seem to have taken a very specific call here. Bleeding Cool points to the first who gets the footage…
