Is That Sláine In The Marvel Universe? The Emerald Warlock Debuts In Uncanny Avengers Annual
In the Uncanny Avengers Annual, we meet the sorcerers of the Marvel Universe of the 1940s. Including a much younger "hot" Agatha Harkness. You know, Stewart Lee once pitched a comic featuring such a character called Agatha Harkness, Princess Of Darkness. This is closer to that….
But writer James Robinson is looking to set up a few things we might be seeing in his upcoming Scarlet Witch series. And introduces us to a new magician from Ireland…
Declan Dane, the Emerald Warlock. And Irish magician of a lot of power. And with another form he can call on…
That's… an interesting look. Because it's rather reminiscent of another transforming Irish magical character, Sláine, from 2000AD.
See what I mean?
Created by Pat Mills and Angela Kincaid, Sláine is a barbarian warrior with the power to "warp spasm" himself into a monstrous form, as a devotee of the goddess Danu.
Look forward to Scarlet Witch to see exactly what else this Emerald Warrior can do… and of course there's another "Dane" that the Uncanny Avengers are interested in....
A lost man himself, Dane now finds himself in Weirdworld, the place where all lost things go. What are the circumstances that brought him to this strange place, so far from the world he called home? And what could he possibly have done that would cause the Uncanny Avengers to mobilize against him, a man they called friend?
