Xbox Say Project Scorpio's Performance Over The PlayStation Pro Will Be 'Obvious'

Editorialising, I wasn't very impressed by Sony's conference yesterday where they announced the PlayStation Pro. It lacked energy and I don't think they made a very compelling argument to consumers as to why they should pick this thing up.

Xbox have now swooped in to pile on a little bit. The company is releasing their own iterative console next year in Project Scorpio, and Xbox director Albert Penello talked to Polygon flexing that console's muscles. Scorpio is set to have 6 terraflops of GPU power, 43% higher than the PlayStation Pro. Penello said the difference between the two consoles power "will be obvious." He then went on to say this power difference doesn't have him worried about the PlayStation Pro's year long lead.

He even went on to say that he thinks that year long lead will help get developers working on 4K games, which will help Project Scorpio in the long run.

It's interesting that we've arrived in a similar place. The PlayStation 4 Pro gives developers a road map for 4K gaming.

There is lots more in that interview that is worth reading. If you want more deets, you should check it out.

Response on the Pro has been very mixed thus far, and Xbox now have a long time to think about how to package the Scorpio. This iterative console rush is not something I believe in, but it certainly has kicked off interestingly. I'll be fascinated to see it play out at least.
