Marvel Comics Versus Hasbro's Over Trademark For Rom's Dire Wraiths

Rom, Space Knight was an action figure toy created  by Parker Brothers. His backstory was given life by Marvel Comics, including the shape shifting aliens of the Dire Wraiths.

The toy flopped. The comic book didn't and ran for years. even when the comic finished, the character continued to appear in the Marvel universe and the Dire Wraiths continued as bad guys, including prominent appearances in the X-Men titles.

Hasbro bought the people who bought Parker Toys. And have now started licensing comics with IDW and making moves about including Rom as part of a Hasbroverse of toy-based movies.

The IDW comic book also has the Dire Wraiths, in a very different looking form.

Hasbro recently registered a trademark for Dire Wraiths. But Marvel, it seems, is launching official legal opposition to this, as we suggested they might.

And have been granted an extension by the courts to make their case until the 21st December.

Forget Justice League Vs Suicide Squad or Inhumans Vs X-Men. The big battle this December is going to be Hasbro Vs Marvel.
