Woody Harrelson Officially Confirmed For Star Wars Han Solo Film
Last week, Bleeding Cool told you about reports that Woody Harrelson was in line to play Han Solo's mentor in the upcoming Star Wars standalone film about the character's "scoundrel" days before A New Hope. Since it was reported on relatively reputable sites like Variety, the rumor was considered pretty solid, but in the past week it has entered the penultimate chrysalis stage of the rumor life cycle and has now emerged from its cocoon as a beautiful, fully grown story! The official Star Wars twitter account has the news:
And more details from the official Star Wars website, where the movie's directors, who according to this quote, speak in unison, which must be quite creepy to witness in person, said:
"We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody," said the film's directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."
Harrelson's exact role has not been officially confirmed, so the entertainment news cycle should be able to squeeze a solid three or four more articles out of this one in the months to come. The (currently untitled) film is set to be released in 2018, and also stars Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Emilia Clarke (Khaleesi).
