Berlanti's Black Lightning Strikes A Second Time As CW Officially Picks Up Pilot

The CW has picked up the pilot for Greg Berlanti's Black Lightning. The show was originally set to air at Fox, but Fox apparently hates making money, allowing CW to pick it up instead. The move was rumored this morning, but has now been confirmed by Entertainment Weekly. With the show on the same network as The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, there's a good chance it will be able to take place inside the Arrowverse, or at least, like Supergirl, to cross over with it. The official description of the show reads:

Jefferson Pierce made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.

Black Lightning will be written and produced by Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil. The character was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eden. Hopefully, this is the last Black Lightning update for a while, or updates about anything lightning-related, as we've already used two of our best lightning puns in one day, and we're going to need some time to recharge. Dammit, there goes another one.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
