Doctor Who Spinoff Class To Be Canceled After One Season, Says Report
In a "careful what you wish for" scenario, for years, UK newspaper The Mirror has subsided mainly on rumors speculating on whether or not Peter Capaldi would leave Doctor Who, so when Capaldi finally really did call it quits, the Mirror found itself facing a bleak future in terms of possible clickbait article topics. Their other main source of stories, whether or not showrunner Steven Moffat would leave Doctor Who, had also been cut off when Moffat announced his departure a few months earlier. Perhaps in an attempt to pull out of this downward spiral by exploring new Doctor Who negativity, or maybe just out of spite, The Mirror is now reporting that Class, the Doctor Who spinoff series whose first season has not even aired in the US, has already been canceled. The report cites poor viewership as the reason the BBC is cutting off the show, with less than 700,000 iPlayer views for the first episode.
While the rumor that the show could be canceled is believable, it's likely to be a while before we get official confirmation, as The Mirror will need to milk this for a few months at least until a new Doctor is chosen by incoming showrunner Chris "Chin Ball" Chibnall so that they can begin speculating on when she will leave the show.
