Bright Director Responds to a Negative Review on Twitter

The review embargo for Bright has come down and thus far the reviews are not looking to be that positive. That's a shame for director David Ayer, and possibly a problem for Netflix since the rumor is they've greenlit a sequel, and there were a couple of ways he could have reacted to the reviews.

Bright

There have been plenty of directors that have lashed out at critics instead of accepting that bad reviews are things that happen sometimes. Ayer reached out to one particular critic who called Bright one of the worst movies of the year. One would expect anger or resentment for that kind of review but Ayer seemed okay with it.

The critic in question also replied, even as the trolls descended to defend a movie they haven't seen yet, and seemed more than okay with that response.

As for Ayer he said that every movie is labor of love. So it's good that he appreciated an extreme reaction even if it was a negative one.

Set in a world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. A human cop is forced to work with an Orc to find a weapon everyone is prepared to kill for.

Bright, directed by David Ayer, stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Veronica Ngo, and Jay Hernandez. It will stream to Netflix on December 22nd.
