Jar Jar Binks Actor Considered Suicide After Star Wars Prequel Backlash

Recent harassment against the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi by entitled manbabies might seem like a horrifying recent development, but though it's definitely horrifying, it's actually not all that new. Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels, took to Twitter to reveal that backlash against the films, and his particularly disliked role, nearly led the actor to commit suicide, even in an era before social media existed.

Best tweeted:

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars prequel and the debut of Jar Jar Binks, came out in 1999, or 20 years ago next year. Thankfully, Best persevered, and he's gone on to champion Jar Jar's role in CGI history.

Co-star Natalie Portman also recently struck back at Star Wars haters, offering some advice for what critics of the prequels could do while simultaneously revealing a little-known fact about Binks himself. Kissing Binks on his 17 d***s sounds like timeless advice that could be applied just as easily to the manbabies of today as those of two decades ago.
