WORM SIGN: Legendary Pictures' 'Dune' Looking at a 2020 Release Date

Just a little bit ago, we shared the pretty awesome news that Gale Force Nine will be creating new table top gaming items in the world of Frank Herbert's Dune, utilizing previously published materials by Frank, his son Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson, AS WELL AS the upcoming Legendary Pictures film adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve.

Buried in the press release about the partnership between Gale Force Nine, Legendary Entertainment, and Herbert Properties LLC was the reveal of a possible theatrical release date of the Dune film.

"The full range of products, including board and miniatures games, are scheduled to release just prior to the upcoming Dune theatrical release in 2020."

This is very exciting, and it means that production on the feature film should be gearing up before too long. Brian Herbert has recently confirmed that yet another draft of the script has passed his desk, and that "each one is better than the last".

We do know that active location scouting is going on, and that Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet is in talks to play Paul Atreides, the hero Arrakis needs.

We'll let you know as soon as we learn more about the production.

Long live the fighters.
