Joyce Chin Launches GoFundMe Appeal – and the Donors Looks Like a Pretty Good Comic Con Guest List

Last month, we reported on comic book artist Joyce Chin being hospitalised as she was flying in to Chicago for the C2E2 convention, and how her husband Arthur Adams also had to pull out of the show (though he did pop by when conditions stabilised.) It happened just as her Vampirella strip with Gail Simone was appearing in the most recent Playboy magazine.

Chin has now launched a GoFundMe appeal to help with the costs that incurred for this happening en route to a show in a foreign city. She writes,

On the 21st of March, on the way to be a guest of C2E2 from OHare, I experienced a sub arachnoid hemmorage in the airport terminal. A stroke. At the same time I also fractured my ankle.

As a result I was unable to attend C2E2 and instead spent nearly 2 weeks in the ICU ward of Presence Resurrection hospital in Chicago undergoing multiple procedures and diagnostic tests.

Luckily I wound up with no deficits, mental or physical, but recovery is slow and painful.

I'm hoping to use Gofundme to provide some financial relief for the upcoming bills from the ER, ICU, and general ward of the hospital. As well as the upcoming care during recovery now that I'm back home.

Thank you!

As of writing, in the last 13 hours, she has raised $13,193 of a $50,000 goal from 134 people.

Donors so far include Matthew Rosenberg, JH Williams III, Brian Bendis, Peter Gross, Adam Hughes, Alison Sohn, Sam Humphries, Justin Gray, Mike Mignola, Paul Dini, John Layman, Mark Waid, Branwyn Bigglestone, Bob Schreck, Nick Barrucci, Tony Panaccio, Liam Sharp, Stephanie Hans, Mike McKone, James O'Barr, Jill Thompson, Erik Ko, Scott Dunbier, Mark Brooks, Ken Lashley, Paul Levitz, David Macho Gomez, Jenny Frison, Richard Pace and Ron Lim.
