A Retailer Tour Of Diamond Comic Distributor's Headquarters Kicks Off
Ahead of the Diamond Retailer Summit in Baltimore today, a number of retailers toured the Diamond headquarters.
One got in touch to share his notes with me, saying that there was some rather naughty language used at the event…
Diamond Comics employees are a hard working professional group. Having just finished a tour of the Diamond offices I was highly impressed with everything diamond presented to retailers.
Of course damages shortages and frustration is going to happen to retailers
But guess what? It's not a perfect world. People are human and shit happens. The folks at Diamond put in a lot of sweat and long hours to do everything possible to keep their clients happy
(I'll note that it wasn't specified whose mouth the naughty language came from :/ )
Diamond Select Toys will offer new Ghostbusters movie action figs with an exclusive 15 piece diorama, including the top of the building, the altar and gargoyles – they didn't allow pictures.
But who could have been so rude in the face of such elegantly geek-designed cookies?
Oh well, there is a clue on the Facebook page of Quikstop Comics retailer Dennis Barger,
Wow, I can't believe I have to explain to Eric Beck what crap comics his company sends us and what he thinks is "sellable" and how he's incorrect. I doubt his boss Steve would think any of the table full of damaged comic would be considered worthy of stamping his company name on the side of the box when simply training the warehouse staff to correctly pack boxes would be so much easier. Eric's quote of the day "we don't sell collectables" and to be told I'm the only one complaining when my feed is full every Tuesday with retailers bitching about diamond's low quality of packing. — feeling disappointed at Diamond Comic Distributors.
He has friends as well.
Jonathan Sullivan I wonder what they'll say about my "collectible" mug I received this week?
Dennis L Barger Jr They said the entire company has a .5% (1/2 a percent damage) damage reporting and I'm 17%, they claim I'm the only one anywhere near that, yet I know retailers who tell me otherwise. But they wouldn't discuss a single one of those…convenient!!! Eric beck is delusional and dividing to conquer. Guess what beck, I won't say my name is Tobi!!!
Drew Lujan God forbid you "pre-sell" a very hot and desirable book before release and when you expecting a 100+ confirmed copies and you get ZERO??? Diamond should be thankful I'm not there. I'm sure Didio says pre-selling books is the new business model
Jonathan Sullivan Just received one of my "emergency" replacements. To them, "emergency" must mean care even less.
Barger continued with a new post after looking at the Diamond Facebook page
When you have a 3 out of 5 customer service rating, how about you don't lecture someone with a 99% on what is quality merchandise
He shared 28 scans from that page, including
I would like to point out that it is very hard indeed to distribute a product which was intended to be rolled up and placed in a back pocket, in collectible mint condition, internationally, simultaneously every week, all the time. And I know of no other organisation that could do it as well as Diamond.
But clearly some folk do have issues… and they are likely to continue to be expressed at the Baltimore Retailer Summit! And what a way to kick it off!
Now it's time for the publishers to take their medicine…
