Archie Relaunches Its Digital Comics App With Madefire – But Have They Thought About The Children?
Archie Comics is to totally relaunch its digital app with the motion comics publisher Madefire, called the Archie Comics Reader.
The new app, which goes live on iOS devices today will showcase Archie's comics and graphic novels with exclusive digital content. And are merging the pay-per-comic and all-you-can-eat services. Archie reader can use the new Archie Unlimited buffet subscription services as well as purchase individual titles. While Marvel offer both with Marvel Unlimited and I have been told of plans to merge the services, Archie Comics has beaten them to the punch. While nicking their name.
Also Archie Comics are making their mature readers line of comics from Dark Circle and more available on the same app, something that Marvel and DC Comics have been unable to do. The app only has a 9+ rating but, in app purchase would require an adult. However the previews can be read without such purchase…. such as these panels from Black Hood that I just downloaded from it. They may want to fix that if they want the app to keep that rating from Apple iOS.
Thankfully most people who read Archie comics are adults anyway. Look for Archie titles to be available in everything from PDF to Motion Comic. Fans can also browse by imprint, series, best-sellers and most popular, as well as just searching for their comic. search directly for comics of their choice.
The app will also launch an exclusive all-new Pep Digital ongoing series of collections of the earliest Archie work, a new line of dollar digests, Archie Digital Comics Presents curated collections and the Archie 75 series that celebrates the anniversary of the character
