Avatar Plug of the Week: Stitched #2 by Garth Ennis

Avatar Plug of the Week: Stitched #2 by Garth EnnisThis week marks the release of STITCHED #2, the second chapter in Garth Ennis' horror / war story set in the Afghanistan mountains.

Bleeding Cool has covered STITCHED for some time now, beginning first with the announcement of Ennis' short film directorial debut, following through all the hullabaloo of its successful San Diego Comic-Con premiere, and culminating with the launch of the ongoing comic book series (with the #1 issue adapting the entirety of the short film to a single issue). With issue #2, however, we're seeing the story venture into completely virgin territory, with new content that takes place after the movie ended.

Before we present the preview, here's some context for you:

STITCHED follows the surviving crew members of a downed American Blackhawk helicopter deep behind enemy lines. Surrounded by the Taliban and without supplies, the crew of three soldiers fear an agonizing death from enemy fire, dehydration, or exposure to the elements. But they've discovered a new threat, a new evil, in the desert – fearsome corpse-like butchers called "Stitches" who hunt the desert wastes, ripping apart Taliban and coalition forces alike.

The new issue #2, plotted by Garth Ennis with adaptation and artwork by Mike Wolfer, delves deeper into the backgrounds of the ill-fated helicopter crew and their three would-be rescuers, a British SAS team. There's also a terrifying second encounter with the Stitches, providing a glimpse into the sinister strategy of their dark masters, and how effectively the supernatural war machines are deployed to kill outsiders.

You can enjoy the preview of STITCHED #2 below.

Available cover variants include a Regular, Wraparound, and Gore, all with artwork by Mike Wolfer.
