CBR's Jonah Weiland Confirms He is DC Comics Vice President

At 4am my time, 8pm his time, Jonah Weiland, my former boss – and former owner – at Comic Book Resources confirmed the Bleeding Cool story, that he was returning to comics to be DC's new VP of Marketing & Creative Services.

A week and a bit ago, Bleeding Cool reported that Jonah Weiland had accepted a place at DC Comics, in the role of Vice President of Marketing and Creative Services. That will be reporting to Hank Kanalz, Senior VP — Publishing Strategy and Support Services – who reports to DC Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee.

I was told that Jonah's remit will focus on marketing DC comic books to the direct market of comic stores. And that his role will run alongside Nancy Spears, now VP, Sales at DC Comics and their joint positions will overlap that of the former Senior VP Sales & Trade Marketing role held by John Cunningham until earlier this year.

And he posted;

Reaction was swift from across the industry;

John Layman:  Hooray!!! Comics is lucky to have you back, Jonah!

Gail Simone: Congratulations, Jonah! Hooray!

Leonard Sultana: Jonah!! Congratulations, sir, fantastic news – they're lucky to have you…

Francesco Francavilla: Whoa! HUGE CONGRATS, my friend!!!

Dan Jurgens: Well done and a hearty congratulations!

Joshua Hale Fialkov: May they fully recognize the incredible, talented, brilliant man they've got on their payroll. They're incredibly lucky to have you, my friend.

B. Clay Moore: Congrats, Jonah. It's about time DC had someone on staff who understood the value of colorful baked goods.

Cully Hamner: Congrats, man! Good move on DC's part!

Robert Venditti: Welcome to DC, Jonah! It'll be great working with you!

Alex Sinclair: Congrats! Where does the line form to pick up the tasty treats?

Jonah Weiland: Next DC Potluck, you know who's bringing the bread!

Patty Jeres: He bakes … cooks, too.

Jim McLauchlin: First Kawhi Leonard, now this! We do live in the greatest of all possible worlds!

Joe Field: I'd say that branded bread falls certainly under the heading of "creative services." Congrats, Jonah!

Jonah Weiland: I tried getting "and Executve Bread Maker" added to my title, but that was a no go!

Patty Jeres: When it's time to re-up, insist.

Jim Gibbons: Congrats, Jonah! Sounds like the perfect new adventure!

James Peaty: Congratulations!

Greg Pak: Congrats!!!

Beau Yarbrough: I love that you're going to bring a wholly unexpected type of geekdom to DC Comics. "Wait, did he say 'bread?'" Congrats, man. This is super-exciting news.

Nancy Spears: Can I get the Wonder Woman??!!!

Jonah Weiland: I actually baked it a week ago! Ate one loaf, gifted the second to a friend. There will be more breads to come!

Douglas Pasko: I've been known to be persuaded by snacks. Any other jobs over there?
