Does Your Comic Shop Require A Mask To Shop?

I have had to write a lot these past 24 hours about mask-wearing in public spaces. I also run a comic shop in non-BC life, and the mask-wearing here in Ohio is about 70-30 people NOT wearing masks. The store I run is in a shopping mall, and it is not required for patrons to wear one in the mall, it is up to the individual business. We have decided to require one, which has led to a drop in business, me being called all manner of names and terrible things, and huffs and puffs from customers. It has also led to thank you's, more recommendations, and new customers as well. My question is this: Why? Why is the comic shop becoming a political touchstone about this?

Look, I am not here to start a war. I believe that wearing a mask helps prevent the spread of germs period. I am not saying that it is perfect or the ultimate barrier to preventing anything, but it does help. I fail to understand why some people get so bent out of shape about it like I walked up and punched one of their family members or something. I have yet to hear a thought out, realistic, and cohesive argument as to why it is a problem to throw a mask on for ten minutes when you get your comics at your local comic shop.

Does going to your local comic shop right now make you feel safe? Is your shop doing everything they can to make sure you have a safe environment to shop in? Does your shop require masks? If they do/don't, does it bother you either way? This is an incredibly stressful time for comic shop owners, and all of these questions go through my mind every time I open the door and see a mix of people with and without masks staring back at me.
