Comixology Bestseller List, 31st August 2018: Marvel Exterminates DC's Fifth Week

Welcome to the Comixology Bestseller list, your guide to see how well your favorite titles are selling digitally. Every week I'll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best-selling volumes and graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

Well, it's a fifth Wednesday, and since the industry seems content to release a fraction of its usual output, I'm only going to a fraction of the analysis. I mean, what can we learn sales-wise anything from a fifth Wednesday? That all the mid-tier titles dominate when all the top-tier titles are on break? Seriously, all of the books in the New Issue Rankings would be 8-10 spots lower any other week. Analysis would be pointless, because these rankings would not hold up under normal conditions. So I don't feel bad phoning it in on fifth Wednesdays. Can't get juice from a rock.

I guess the one observation I can make is last week's surprise hit West Coast Avengers made it No. 1 in the Old Issue Rankings, obviously benefitting from good word of mouth. I still don't know much stock to put in the Old Issue Rankings, but if WCA gets a boost next month, we'll know why.
