Curiosity – Starnes And Zumel Go To Kickstarter For Long Time Project

Kickstarter is a great way for comics that might never see the light of day to get back and published. Joshua Starnes has a project like that, it's called Curiosity.

"Curiosity is the end point of a six-year journey, inspired by the likes of Zenith and The Ballad of Halo Jones, which started out as a pitch for Red 5 Comics and blossomed into a 224-page epic about life and love and stuff blowing up." Said Starnes.

The plot focuses on Solomon 'Curiosity' Hamilton, a spy in this far-flung future who protects the government from enemies foreign and domestic, or so he thinks. Sent to the planet Athene to investigate the death of the mysterious Professor H and how it's linked to a series of arbitrary terror attacks, he soon finds himself in the middle of loyal rebels, traitorous friends, brainwashing bacteria, robot armies and a plan to conquer the galaxy which may be the only hope of saving it.

"It's a pulp sci-fi graphic novel in prime space opera style which I describe, if I have to do so quickly, as James Bond and Flash Gordon mixed together." Starnes continues, "It deals with deception and ethical grey zones and doublethink common to the thriller, but does so in a pulp sci-fi landscape, taking elements of both and mixing them together in a post-modern blender."

Joining Starnes on this project is artist is by Federico Zumel who worked Penny Farthing's The Victorian and the webcomic Extracurricular Activities for Zuda.
