DC Turning Aquaman Into A #RESIST Vs Trump Comic In November
DC Comics have already given us a number of Trump analogues in their comic books. Nathan Domini, businessman and land developer, turned politician in Green Arrow was familiar…
Harvey Dent in Bombshells…
Father of Harley Sinn, Richard Brand, from Harley Quinn And Her Gang Of Harleys.
The Penguin in Catwoman…
A Trumpalike in Wacky Raceland….
A quick side reference (and snide reference) in Hellblazer…
And an actual appearance in Dark Knight III: The Master Race – along with other familiar faces.
But it looks like the next Aquaman #30 is going in hard with this, now given the RESIST cover title.
AQUAMAN #30
(W) Dan Abnett (A/CA) Stjepan Sejic
"UNDERWORLD" finale! After Dolphin confronts Aquaman with the horrifying truth of King Rath's new regime, all hope for Atlantis is nearly lost until an emotional reunion with Vulko gives Arthur a renewed sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Mera attempts a dangerous new plan to penetrate the Crown of Thorns and reunite with the love of her life… at the cost of her own soul! In Shops: Nov 15, 2017
SRP: $3.99
Recently in the series, King Rath (a poor man's Ocean Master since the Aquaman villain is not available for Dan Abnett to use in the book) has also been played up as a Trump allegory, if slightly nuanced. He has taken over Atlantis, cast out those in opposition (including Aquaman) and is seeking to make Atlantis great again (and how can it not look great with Stjepan Sejic on art?)
Emphasising security for Atlantis…
Getting rid of those who are not true Atlanteans…
And playing the people against each other.
But the new cover suggests that the creative team may be doubling down on this one.
