DC Books Return To Barnes & Noble's Shelves
Bleeding Cool broke the story and provided the photographic proof back in October that Barnes & Noble was to remove 100 DC Comics graphic novels from their shelves a few months ago, over DC's decision to make them digitally exclusive to the Amazon Kindle Fire – excluding Barnes & Noble's Nook. Books-A-Million followed suit, as they also sold the Nook.
It was a widely criticised move at the time, even if limited to the four months of digital exclusivity. They included Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, Sandman, Fables, Blackest Night, All Star Superman, Y The Last Man, and V For Vendetta.
Well, it seems that they're not even waiting that long. I have received reports from across the USA that in certain Barnes & Noble have blinked and are returning the boycotted books to their shelves.
Not all, or at least not yet. But I've had confirmation from sources close to Barnes & Noble executives that it's rolling back out, months before they were originally planning to. And after missing out on all those Christmas All Star Superman and Fables sales.
Barnes and Noble in the Grove in Los Angeles has some of the books back, as does Eugene, Oregon (above) and San Antonio, Texas. But the stores at 44th & 6th in Manhattan and Cortlandt, NY do not.
Let me know your local store's status – and when it changes!
