Detective Comics #27 at CGC 2.5 Sells For $410,000

Getting a comic book graded by CGC as a 2.5 out of 10might sometimes be a disappointment.

But for Detective Comics #27 that still means a lot of change. It has just sold for a record price via ComicLink in that grade, the first time the first appearance of Batman has gone for so much money in that condition. It is notable that a copy graded at 5.0 went for $569,000 in the Spring.

The sellers stated that the comic in question 'looks great for the condition assigned, as it has visual appeal usually associated with a much higher grade, more consistent with the appearance of a 5.5 than a 2.5. The back cover has lesser eye appeal and there is tape on the interior spine, therefore the condition of 2.5 was assigned. Preservation is outstanding for the near 80-year old issue, with near newsstand-fresh Off-White to White Pages.'

And in comparison 'the only other 2.5 has a large coupon cut out of the back cover.'

Take a look at the record-breaking sale. Got one in the attic maybe?
