Diamond At The C2E2 Retailer Breakfast
Diamond Comic Distributors gave an assembled throng of comic book retailers bunch of encouraging statistics at their C2E2 breakfast meeting yesterday morning.
You can see all the publisher reports we ran here, but here's some of the resulting statistics.
Sales for the first quarter of 2015 are up 8.28% over those in the same period last year, with comics up 13.25%, graphic novels up 0.65% and ,merchandise up 3.67%.
Currently, as well as the monthly Previews catalogues, Diamond offers more urgent fare through their weekly update Previews Plus. But from the summer, this will move to offering new items every day on the website, before collecting them in Previews Plus.
5.6 million comics were ordered for this year's Free Comic Book Day, a jump of over a fifth from 2014 with 8% more stores taking part, 2,300 in total. It will now also officially begin Children's Book Week every year
The Non-Premier FOC mailer gets an update, the ComicSuite UltraLite program replaces Previews On Windows, a feedback button has been added to Diamond's retailer website. They also pushed the ComicSuite Portable Hardware Bundle for retailers.
This highly versatile bundle includes a Windows 8‐based HP Elite Pad US with battery and a tablet sleeve with an extra battery, barcode scanner & magstripe credit card reader. Plus, it also includes a Retail Expansion Dock that lets you connect to more peripherals, and a Wireless Epson Bluetooth Receipt Printer. All of this is available for just $3,995 – and as with our other bundles, this one comes with ComicSuite and Microsoft RMS Store Operation software preinstalled.
