Did Bryan Hill Just Announce His Retirement from Comics?

Bryan Hill is still in the process of conquering comic books, coming off a run on Detective Comics to a (delayed) Batman and the Outsiders series at DC, writing Killmonger for Marvel, and of course writing American Carnage at Vertigo and more Postal at Top Cow. And he does have what he calls a "SPECIAL" surprise coming next year as well. But 2019 may be Hill's last year in comics, at least for the time being. Hill wrote on Twitter Friday:

And responding to G. Willow Wilson, Hill revealed he plans to focus completely on his first passion, filmmaking.

But no need to feel sad just yet. If response is good to Batman and the Outsiders, Hill says he might consider sticking around to continue writing it.

And maybe another Romulus series too…

And, well, if a Shadowman offer came about from Valiant…

Or maybe some JLA?

And also, he'll probably return after conquering Hollywood as well…

And he'll still do appearances, of course…

So perhaps retirement is a bit too strong a word. And after conquering Hollywood, perhaps Hill can merge both his passions and make a Superman movie the way he'd like to see it…

But, er, don't take that as a shot at Man of Steel

Even if the criticism does apply. But Snyderbronies are a notoriously defensive lot…

Ultimately, though Hill makes his real living from screenwriting, he does have a parting wish for his fellow comics professionals…

Wouldn't that be nice?

About Jude Terror

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
