Donny Cates Threatens to Quit Twitter; Tom King Calls His Bluff

Donny Cates has a problem. Thanks to the rampant success of his Marvel Comics work, everyone wants to send him their ideas. Unfortunately, Cates is a global entertainment superstar, the John Cena of comics, which means that he's legally not allowed to read people's suggestions. If he does read them, and then later he or Marvel Comics does something similar to those ideas, they could be subject to a rights lawsuit. That would truly be a bummer.

So Cates has been pleading with people to stop sending him ideas, but that's seemed to only encourage it, especially in the form of throwaway jokes intending to lampoon the request. This has left Cates so exasperated that he's threatened to either begin blocking people or even to go so far as to delete his Twitter account.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Cates' counterpart at DC Comics, Tom King, has seized on the opportunity to attempt to drive his rival off of Twitter, which would surely be a big PR victory for the Distinguished Competition. King responded to Cates' tweets with a suggestion of his own.

However, Cates was unphased by King's attempts to force him to flee Twitter, tweeting in response:

And:

Will Cates' pleas cause fans and fellow comic book writers to finally get the idea and stop sending him story suggestions? Or, sensing weakness, will people continue to assault Cates with their imaginations until he's left with no choice but to purchase a cabin in the wilderness with no internet connection so that he can continue to produce lucrative intellectual property in peace?

Bleeding Cool will continue to closely monitor this story, just as soon as we finish sending Cates some great ideas we have for a Venom crossover with the X-Men.
