Elfquest Inspired Writer To Make All-Ages Comic
Justin Zimmerman writes for Bleeding Cool:
It was ELFQUEST that did it.
Perhaps you know this story, perhaps not. Perhaps this story sounds like YOUR story. A kid, lost and adrift. Finding solace, meaning and adventure in other worlds, written words, the library.
The fantasy section had a strange, oversized book jutting out its two measly rows. ELFQUEST, BOOK 1 (as it was originally called) was calling my name. And oh how lucky I was to have heard it.
I still hear it.
I've written hundreds upon hundreds of pages for comics, films and storyboards over the past 15 years, but I've never created anything for the kids like the kid I used to be, walking through the library looking for something…else.
Until now.
OTHER WORLDS: FER KIDZ is currently running on Kickstarter, and I'm delighted to tell you that it's already met its goal with a little more than a week left. It's an all-ages book that collects three stories illustrated and painted by the incomparable Mike Lawrence (MUDDY MAX, STAR SCOUTS). It's locally-printed, filled with digital cel-shading and watercolor work from some incredible local colorists and is a true joy to read from beginning to end.
And because I'm committed to my the kids who can't find their way to the comic store on a regular basis, I'm donating hundreds of copies to my local food bank library, a giving / lending library I helped start.
Please take a second to check out my campaign, and thanks for supporting independent comics!
