Four More Marvel Comics That Get Referenced In Avengers Endgame In One Way Or Another (Possible Spoilers)
Yesterday, Bleeding Cool ran an article looking at seven comic books that may have been referenced in Avengers Endgame, provided inspiration for certain aspects of the film or maybe came to the same place independently. This was not intended to be spoilers, more a list of comic books that readers may like to visit or revisit after seeing Avengers Endgame. But obviously care should be taken.
Well, here are four more…
It is possible reading these beforehand, or being very familiar with their contents, might provide you with some spoilers. I will endeavor to not go explicitly beyond what's been seen in trailers. But if you haven't seen Avengers: Endgame, best not take chances. Though those that want to go for it, and were previously unfamiliar with these comics, may get a joke or a reference or two more in the movie as a result, that they wouldn't have otherwise. Make your judgement… and if you work something out, don't spoil anything for anyone else either.
Avengers: Fear Itself by Brian Michael Bendis, Chris Bachalo, John Romita and Mike Deodato and it's a very specific issue, Avengers #17. Though toy leaks may have meant we knew this was coming…
This has an Iron Man moment of considerable note.
Invincible Iron Man, Vol. 8: Unfixable – a very specific story by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Andrea Mutti.
As has this. I mean seriously. Admittedly it's somewhere we've been before, but this has it in spades (if one of the only dodgy bits of CGI in the movie).
Captain America: Steve Rogers Vol 1 by Nick Spencer and Jesus Saiz.
There's also this one, big time considering the fuss Chris Evans made – which also ties into a certain Russo scene that became their Marvel calling card.
And then there's the Captain America #10 issue collected in House of M: World of M, by Ed Brubaker and Lee Weeks.
Which may expand one very significant aspect of the conclusion of the movie.
So tell me, those who have seen the movie, what other comic book-specific aspects and references did you pick up on?
