Yesterday, Bleeding Cool shared a first look at a first panel from Greg Capullo's decades-long return to Marvel Comics. There was little to identify in it.
Well, there is a bit more now. Today, as well as more Creech III, Greg Capullo posted a full finished pencils page to Instagram saying, "After decades away, I'm back at Marvel. Today I drew my first page. Sadly, this is the only page that I'll be able to share until this project is formally announced. Hope you dig it."
And they did, especially his fellow professional artists. Ryan Ottley added "Looks glorious, Greg! What a beast of a comic artist you are, and always were. True inspiration, my friend!". Cully Hamner added "I feel like you could make a career out of this…" And Yildiray Cinar said "Amazing page! Can't wait to see what it is". Well maybe we can help with that as as well.
A now-deleted version of this post on Twitter seemed to reveal that this page was actually from an upcoming issue of Wolverine. So, Wolverine it is. After all, it was the project offered him by Marvel in 2011 by Marvel, though he chose to go with Batman with Scott Snyder at DC Comics instead. This may be set in the Savage Land, as there are primitive-looking-but-not natives as well as dinosaurs on hand.
Marvel Comics is relaunching their X-Men line in July under new Group Editor Tom Brevoort, and one could probably presume this will be the Wolverine #1 that will launch as part of that event. Which will probably give Greg Capullo time enough to draw it, even with some more of his Creech III graphic novel along the way.
Here's another look at his Wolverine from Instagram. Just to get an idea of what may be on the way…
