Jock Enjoyed A Real Rotring Christmas Miracle This Year

Before Christmas, Batman, Dredd and Losers comic book artist Jock had a big problem with Rotring art pens, or rather, their absence. He posted on TwitterX, "My last Art Pen's have bit the dust (the nibs are just too separated) and Rotring don't make them anymore… every single page of comic art I've ever made, from THE LOSERS to GONE- the line art was drawn with one of these. Currently test-driving other pens! Any recs welcomed… current favourite is this Kaweco – but only got it yesterday so haven't dug in enough. anyone else found any like for like Rotring Art Pens? and yes, i have a deadline tomorrow"
Fellow artist Pye Parr replied, "This is only delaying the inevitable, but I have a virtually unused one in my kit if you want it…"
He did. Andy Lanning added "Hey, I got these two, Fine and Extra-Fine, pretty much as new, I could never get on with them. they may need a bloody good clean to get them working but they're yours if you want them, matey." Lee Garbett shouted out "Dude! I have one you can have"
And there were more and more. And this last week, Jock totted them all up. "Just amazing After my message below, Twitter has come through… friends old and new have mailed me Rotring Art Pens — NINETEEN have arrived!! The thing is, each pen lasts maybe a year, so this will likely keep me going for most if not the rest of my career! One package is pretty special. The wonderful Rufus Dayglo send me four pens — two of which belonged to the late, great Garry Leach. The thought that I can use Garry's pens and continue to make art with is incredible. A huge thank you to everyone who stepped up, to many to lost, but you know who you are."
It was a real Christmas miracle! I used to have a bunch myself, but could never get the line weight right. But then, of course, I am not Jock…
Late to the party, Peter Krause added, "I have a couple lying around somewhere. Let me know when you go through your present supply. ;)" Jock replied, "thank you! in 2038??!" While David Aja summed the whole thing up saying "Duuude, comic people being best people always. Happy new year, friend, big big hug."
