Local Comic Shop Day 2019 is the opposite of Free Comic Book Day. There's a bunch of stuff available, only to participating stores, of a limited nature, and you pay more than the usual price for what's on offer. Bricks and mortar only – no online dealers. It can lead to some highly desirable collectables, and crosses mainstream to the indiest of indies. Publishers have been launched on the back of it. Say maybe it's a bit like Free Comic Book Day after all.
And the fifth Local Comic Shop Day is to be held on November 23rd 2019.

Marco Davanzo of ComcisPRO and Local Comic Shop Day tells us "So far, retailer registration is rocking. In the first five days, we signed up more than 125 storefronts for Local Comic Shop Day. That's a more energetic start than previous years. LCSD is growing year by year and we expect this fifth year to be the strongest yet. Retailers know LCSD is great for getting exclusive and limited print items to jump start their holiday sales. Fans know LCSD participating shops are great places to send friends and family for awesome gift ideas. Local Comic Shop Day highlights the uniqueness of participating shop because every comic shop is its own universe," said Davanzo. "Local Comic Shop Day is all about how comic shops serve their local communities. Some shops might have special sales, or maybe art contests, artist signings, cosplaying, even charity involvement at some stores. Local stores bring local flavour to the way they bring an exciting event like LCSD to their communities!"
