What Does Marvel Legacy #1 Mean For… The Fantastic Four (SPOILERS)
Marvel Legacy #1 by Jason Aaron, with art by Esad Ribic, Steve McNiven, Matthew Wilson, Chris Samnee, Russell Dauterman, Alex Maleev, Ed McGuinness, Stuart Immonen, Wade Von Grawbadger, Pepe Larraz, Jim Cheung, Daniel Acuna, Greg Land, Jay Leisten, Mike Deodato Jr, David Marquez and lettered by VC's Cory Petit, is published by Marvel Comics today – or last night, depending if your store did a midnight opening or not.
And although you don't get a return for the Fantastic Four, you do get that direction. But first, today's Invincible Iron Man helps Thing let go…
While in Marvel Legacy, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm honour the… legacy.
And sets up the next series Marvel Two-In-One and the first storyline, The Fate Of The Four.
As for that fate, well, we do at least see the kids. Could this be a recognition of the planned movie? Remember, even from our original reports on Marvel cancelling all Fantastic Four comics and licensing over their issues with Fox Studios, we said that the characters could all return, even under a new title – it just couldn't be Fantastic Four.
The kids are alright. Working for their cosmic-ated parents with universe upon universe to explore. And Valeria narrating the entire comic, including saying "legacy" ten times.
But Valeria promises she is coming back to our one. Well, she still has a Luc Besson movie based on the comic that she was named after to watch, and it's better in 3D. When she's not leaving her fingerprints on the creation of the multiverse, of course.
Could Marvel Two-In-One be telling her story? Do remember that Valeria also turned up recently in Doctor Strange And The Sorcerors Supreme…. though that was a parallel version of her. I wonder how Prime Earth Valeria reacted to Molecule Man and her dad remaking that Doom-In-Hell version of her…
And what her folks said when they discovered. Yeah, she probably needs to get back home pronto.
Talking of home, do note that Alex Ross's tweeted-then-deleted image of Reed and Sue have costumes that match Valeria and Franklin's new duds.
