Original Sin #1 Sells Out Ahead Of Sale Date (Or Not… UPDATE)
UPDATE: I'm being told that, despite some retailer's experiences, that there are still copies available for sale through the usual channels. So if I were a retailer needing more, I'd at least take my chances…

There have been some worries about the performance of Marvel's upcoming event title Original Sin #1, and how it ties in across the Marvel Universe. There is heavy promotion on the comic, eyeball giveaways, previews, tie-ins, everyone is all out to make this thing sell. They've even let folk see the first two issues well in advance to try and get some hype going.
And Marvel need a big hit. Avengers Vs X-Men did very well for them, but Infinity, and especially Inhumanity that followed underperformed on expectations and Marvel execs were heard despairing about the last quarter of 2014. And with much of the Marvel Universe tying into Original Sin, with big name spinoff projects, if this fails, it will take down a lot more with it.
But it looks like it might have worked. Original Sin #1 has, according to retailer reports, sold out at Diamond Comic Distributors. No retailer up their orders, the print run has been reached, and that's your lot, until the inevitable second print. Admittedly, that probably means around 250,000 copies or whatever, but no more than that. It looks like retailers have more confidence this time than Marvel might have been expecting…
