Own a Unique Piece of Disney History with The Story of Walt Disney

Many books have been written about Walt Disney, but there's only one that can claim to be the first book to be written about the iconic man. The Story of Walt Disney, as told by his daughter Diane Disney Miller and Pete Martin. The book was published in 1957 and is the only biography about Disney, where he helped with the details. Heritage Auction has an exceptionally rare and unique copy of the out of the print book.

This first edition copy sells for $250 by itself, but this copy also has something remarkable inside of it. In big, bold cursive, sits Walt Disney's autograph. His autograph is still considered a hard find, and for a true Disney fan, it's likely one of the holy grails in collectors circles. This book has a slipcover and is overall in excellent condition. This book is also signed by Diane Disney Miller, making this a truly unique and rare item — it's not every day you come across two authentic signatures from the family!

The Story of Walt Disney from Heritage Auction

Walt Disney would die a mere nine years later, with Diane passing in 2013. Diane would preserve her father's memory in another way as well, with the opening of the Walt Disney Family Museum. The museum opened in 2009, and features several things from Walt's life before and after he started in animation. The museum also offers many educational classes, ever-changing exhibits, and more. I have yet to visit the museum, but it's on my list of places to visit!

Heritage has some other rare and genuinely unique Disney items. Pieces include props from the Disney Store, original art by Mary Blair, and more. Are you interested in bidding on these incredible items? You'll need a Heritage account, but don't worry; accounts are free. Plus, you never know what other unique treasures you may find. Good luck and happy bidding!
