Read a Teaser for Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips's New OGN 'My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies'

Image Comics has revealed what they're calling a "teaser" for the upcoming original graphic novel by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies. Set to hit comic shops on October 10th and grown-up bookstores on October 16th, the book reunites the superstar hard-boiled creative team for another tale, described thusly in the press release:

Presented in a gorgeous hardcover format, MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN JUNKIES is a seductive coming-of-age story, a pop and drug culture-fueled tale of a young girl seeking darkness… and what she finds there.

Though an Amazon listing Bleeding Cool Rumourmonger-in-Chief Rich Johnston dug up back in May provided a more detailed description:

Teenage Ellie has always had romantic ideas about drug addicts, those tragic artistic souls drawn to needles and pills have been an obsession since the death of her junkie mother ten years ago. But when Ellie lands in an upscale rehab clinic where nothing is what it appears to be… she'll find another more dangerous romance, and find out how easily drugs and murder go hand-in-hand.

MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN JUNKIES is a seductive coming-of-age story, a pop and drug culture-fueled tale of a young girl seeking darkness… and what she finds there. A gorgeous must-have hardback from the award-winning team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

It's also Brubaker and Phillips first original graphic novel, distinguishing it from their other collaborations which are released as single issues and then later collected. Check out the preview… er, teaser… below:

About Jude Terror

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
