A Comic Show – Secret Wars Battles Convergence
Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida, writes:
Hey Fandom! We survived Free Comic Book Day and are back for Secret Wars! Big thanks to everyone who helped make our FCBD the best day in the history of the shop, and I hoped you enjoyed the holiday wherever you are.
This week it's all about Secret Wars #1 by Hickman, which is Convergence done right. This is the culmination of years of Hickman's work and a celebration of everything Marvel's known for. It's fun, smart, and accessible at the same time. This is an epic wide screen event that can only be done as a comic in a shared universe.
I covered all the Convergence books, but the interesting parts that got me going this week is all the 8 page stories of what's coming in June. Are the Omega Man the Isis of space? Kyle Rayner better hope not. Batman Earth One: Volume Two by Johns and Frank was even better that volume one. So if you liked that, you need this. If you didn't like the first volume, this one may win you over. I'm loving what they did with Alfred, Dent, Croc, and Riddler!
Image has a few continuing series issues out like Descender and Jupiter's Circle that have my attention, as well as the second collections for Southern Bastards and Rat Queens. And Afterlife With Archie is back! Here's Juggy!
