Belle De Jour's Dirty Secret – She's A Geek!

author_of__Belle_de_645479qAnd as the mega-successful anonymous call-girl blog writer Belle De Jour reveals herself to be one Dr Brooke Magnanti, beating an ex-boyfriend looking for a payoff to the punch, I suddenly remember I know that name.

Magnanti wrote occasionally in her scientific guise for Barbelith, the Grant Morrison/Invisibles spinoff forum site. Stuff like this;

"We agreed to save the brain for last: "If anything looks even remotely like a cause of death, we're not opening that head." On the table, a partially mummified corpse. Its fingers were yellow and shrivelled; there were black tattoos on grey skin. "It's brain soup in there. I'd rather not know.""

And stuff like this;

Billie_Piper_645469a"Show me someone who is fascinated with the idea of his own death and I'll show you someone who has never touched a dead body. For thoughts and actions of self-harm are the byproducts of natural curiosity coupled with growing up in a society that has allowed ignorance to be codified in tradition and law."

Yup, it's not just live bodies she seems to have a lot to write about. Anyway, she must have just loved being played by a Doctor Who assistant in ITV2's Diary Of A Call Girl. Hell, she even writes science-fiction.

Right. Now how do we get her to write the graphic novel?
