Destiny 2's Next Expansion Supposedly Leaks, Bringing Lots of Details and Possibly New Enemies

Destiny 2's next expansion has seemingly been leaked on the PlayStation store, revealing the name and the promise of new enemies.

On the US PlayStation store, a description of the expansion, which is called Gods of Mars, revealed several key details about the DLC. (The listing has now been removed). The leak was caught by Reddit, and it tells us we will, perhaps unsurprisingly by the name, be returning to Mars. It's a new location though by the name of the Frigid Vale of Mars. The description reads:

Destiny 2 Expansion II: Gods of Mars sends your Guardian on a long journey to a brand new destination – the frigid Vale of Mars, with an array of new missions, adventures, and enemies to fight. Charlemagne has reawoken on Mars and has imprisoned Rasputin within an ancient vault. Work with the elusive Ana Bray – long thought to be dead, in order to combat Charlemange's Remnants, freer Rasputin, and uncover the secrets of Clovis Bray.

Charlemagne and Rasputin are both Warminds, which are incredibly powerful AI that help to defend Earth, essentially. They aren't always on the side of the Guardians though. As for Clovis Bray and Ana Bray, the former is a company that created the Warminds and the latter is… it's complicated. You can read her lore here. There are a lot more theories about who she is and who she isn't, which that page doesn't fill in. For that, you will have to go to seek out some of Destiny's best loremasters on YouTube.

There are a couple more notes on what the content will include here:

  • New story missions and adventures
  • New themed weapons, armor and gear to earn
  • New cooperative activities
  • New competitive multiplayer arenas
  • New enemy factions and bosses

That last one is certainly interesting. Destiny hasn't had a new enemy type since the Taken, and they were an amalgam of other enemies. Of course, 'faction' could just mean a new division of existing enemy, like the Siva Fallen, so we just don't know.

Bear in mind that none of this has been confirmed, but the leak seems pretty legitimate. My money is on this being real as it toys with ideas that the game's lore has been circling for a while. The leak suggests a March launch, and that would fit the timeline for DLC so far. We will keep you abreast of this one.
