Fan Expo Buys Calgary Expo, To Add To Its Collection Of Comic Cons? (UPDATE: Nope)

Coming from the floor of last weekend's C2E2, comes the news that one of the organisers of the Fan Expo HQ shows, was telling vendors that the company has purchased Calgary Comic And Entertainment Expo.

UPDATE: NOPE. Representatives contacted me half an hour ago to say that, while when I made enquiries earlier today they decided not to reply to them, they have now decided otherwise. And that this is not happening and Fan Expo and Calgary are just friends.

Though I do have multiple confirmed reports of the C2E2 conversations… so who knows what was going on?

The original article continues below.

Calgary Comic And Entertainment Expo which started its 2017 show today, is a four-day annual show taking place at Calgary Stampede Park, featuring a mix of media and comics guests. Started in 2006, it now attracts over 100,000 attendees each year.

We are expected to hear an official-official statement this weekend. But it means that Fan Expo continues to step up alongside Reed Expo, Wizard World and Comic-Con International in terms of comic conventional prominence.

Calgary Comic Con will join Fan Expo Canada, Fan Expo Vancouver, Fan Expo Regina, Fan Expo Dallas, Toronto Comicon, Dallas Fan Days and Megacon Orlando under the Fan Expo HQ umbrella.

Whether it will change names to Fan Expo Calgary… well, I guess that's for Sunday's press release to decide. Bleeding Cool reached out to both parties but has yet to receive a response.
