Israel's Future in the DC Universe From Doomsday Clock – Hayoth

The new issue of Doomsday Clock by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, the unauthorised sequel to Watchmen and published by DC Comics, is showing the future of the DC Universe Earth and the superheroes who live on it, around the world. The Supermen Theory, currently causing global uproar, points out that 97% of the superheroes live in the USA. But other countries are catching up…

But who is who? Let's check in with Israel with the superhero team Hayoth. Art from Doomsday Clock #5.

Hayoth first appeared in Suicide Squad #45 in 1990, created by John Ostrander, Kim Yale and Geof Isherwood.

Dybbuk – first appeared in Suicide Squad #45 in 1990. An artificial intelligence created by Israeli scientists with the ability to control any computer or machine that was run by a computer. Based on the same magnetic bottle technology used to create Djinn, Digital Djinn and Ifrit of the Onslaught. And tricked by the supervillain Kobra into a scheme that nearly sparked a holy war between Jews and Muslims. Later develops a more human identity as "Lenny", and used to deprogram the radicalised Mindboggler/Ifrit, who he then fell in love with and married.

Golem – first appeared in Suicide Squad #45 in 1990. Moyshe Nakhman, who can shift his claylike body's composition between various solid and liquid forms.

Judith – first appeared in Suicide Squad #45 in 1990. An expert in fencing and shuriken-jutsu, trained in the martial arts and infiltration, calls herself the "Sword of Zion". Her main weapon appears to be a Mughal Talwar.

Ramban – first appeared in Suicide Squad #45 in 1990. Team leader, a magician named after the great Kabbalist, Philosopher and Physician Nahmanides (Rabbi Moshe ben Nahman).

Pteradon – first appeared in New Teen Titans #24 in 1986. Created by Marv Wolfman and Eduardo Barreto. Captain Israel Harel was an Israeli commando who led the rescue of a jumbo jet which had been forcibly landed at a Qurac airport during which he was shot in the back and dropped into the ocean. Recovered by Dayton's agents and subjected to Promethium, Harel became a human pterodactyl. Possessing claws and the ability to fly at supersonic speeds with his Pterodactyl wings, Pteradon combines his powers with tactical knowledge.

Seraph –  first appeared in Super Friends #7 in 1977, created by E. Nelson Bridwell,Ramona Fradon, and Bob Oksner. Chaim Levon, a Jewish school teacher who wields mystical power, and ex-member of the Global Guardians for a few years. His powers are primarily derived from various mythic artefacts believed handed down to him by historic figures chronicled in the Torah. He wears the ring of Solomon that gives him wisdom and allows him to teleport short distances, the mantle of Elijah that protects him from harm, the Staff of Moses can extend to whatever length he needed, can transform into a serpent and manipulate water, long hair which grants him super strength like Samson and can request spectacular miracles from "a higher power" as he needs them.
