The word that this was coming was suggested by a Diamond listing for retailers, but today Image told retailers what was coming. A new delayed billing programme for select retailers for select titles.

Basically, buy now, pay later.

If retailers order certain amounts of certain Image Comics collections based on their current ordering levels, they can delay having to pay for them for 90 days after the comic is published.

This kind of incentive can improve retailer cashflow, giving them a longer window of time to sell a title before they have to pay for the costs of ordering it. And, of course encourage them to order more.

Indeed, retailers will be required to order at least three quarters of the selected titles at the required amounts to qualify, every month.

They are also encouraged to use the Image Comics floor display we mentioned before. This is another initiative started and pushed by Image's director of sales Corey Murphy.
