Marvel's Uncanny X-Men Wipes Out Centres of Catholicism, Islam and Hinduism
Who wants to be a god? There is so much competition these days. Well, Nathan Grey fancies having a go in Uncanny X-Men #5 out today. And decides, with Apocalypse's goading to do so by wiping out three of the world's major religions. At least.
Should Kitty have been so dismissive?
So that's the destruction of Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, Rome, centre of Catholicism and the tombs of many Popes. The Kaaba, at the center of Islam's most important mosque, Al-Masjid Al-Ḥarām, in the Hejazi city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. And the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, of the Hindu faith. What, no Wailing Wall? We only saw three, could have been three thousand… And now Kitty Pryde is perturbed.
But it does see a godlike Nate Summers declare that the centres of Islam, Catholicism and Hinduism are fake houses of worship, and those inside them as false prophets.
Considering it was only recently that the X-Men went to a Christian heaven to retrieve Nightcrawler back to the land of the living, and they all spend a good long time in the Catholic limbo, is this really a consistent role to take?
