Paul McCartney's Music Video For His Destiny Song Is Certainly… Something
When Destiny came out, I remember Paul McCartney's "Hope for the Future" getting a fair bit of criticism thrown at it. It's the song that plays at the end credits of the game and it certainly baffled quite a few people. There are two sentiments that came out of this oddity. 1) It's weird Paul McCartney has written a song specifically for Destiny. 2) This doesn't really fit the tone of the game.
While I agree with both, I never really had any ire for it existing. I don't even dislike the song. It's fairly bog standard modern-era McCartney.
However, now that the video has hit, things have gotten much weirder. Check it out below. Basically, it is a hologram of McCartney set to the backgrounds of Destiny. That isn't even an awful idea in concept. It is just very peculiar in practice.

Are we all still here? Yes? Good.
Honestly, if you take McCartney out of the video, it's fine. Destiny's vistas are incredible. You could easily make a 'hope for humanity' video just out of that. I suppose McCartney had to make face time somewhere though.
Still, there isn't single Guardian using the dance function. That's a missed opportunity.
So yes, we now have a former Beatle singing a song specifically for a video game. At the very least it's something that will no doubt turn up on pub quizzes across the globe.
