So… Who Was That MM Anyway?

Well, yes, obviously the MM I was referring to that was hinted at as the big bad at Big Apple Comic Con was Molecule Man, a character I very much related to reading in the Marvel UK Secret Wars series at the age of ten – a weak-willed oft-bullied character with god-like powers. I wonder why that could be. Anyway.

Some of Greg Horn's artwork for upcoming issues of Dark Avengers was on display, with the team fighting Molecule Man and this all seemed to fit in well with a character who could be seen as a threat to a goddess like Loki. And the reason for Doom's blank stare of hatred after his reveal, given their history on the patchwork planet from Secret Wars. Anyway.

It also seemed a possible way in for Brian Bendis to elaborate on the current mess over the anagonist in the Secret Wars stories, The Beyonder – in previous Marvel continuity he was part of the same cosmic cube that formed Molecule Man, but in The Illuminati Bendis retconned him as a rogue Inhuman and Secret Wars II as a fantasy that he'd created on a far asteroid. Which was damn confusing.

But Molecule Man's appearance at the end of the recent Dark Avengers may have put paid to the theory, certainly introducing him here rather than at some Cabal meeting.

But it doesn't mean that the MM theory is dead. Obviously Marvelman isn't happening, and Mickey Mouse is just too new. There can only be one answer. Here's that scene from Secret Invasion Dark Reign again.
